Olympic Gold, Silver and Bronze Medallist Barbara Kendall will be sailing in the Worser Bay Boating Club's annual TelstraClear Hebtro Trophy race this Sunday, 21 April. Commodore Heleen Visser is hugely excited by Barbara's attendance. "The aim of the day isto raise funds for junior yachting, and in doing so, to have great fun day for allinvolved. Just to have Barbara sailing at our club - she's a great role model for ouryoung sailors". The celebrity yacht race will take place in keelboats in the waters off Worser Bay, witheach keelboat carrying a celebrity, a sponsor, and a junior sailor. Barbara will besailing on one of the Keelboats in the race. The TelstraClear Hebtro Trophy fundraising day is in it's 11th year and is going fromstrength to strength. Cameron Appleton, Team New Zealand's back-up skipper, sailed in last year's race and willbe back defending his title. He will be sailing on the newly launched MRX keelboat, Zana,and is bringing a Team NZ crew. The MRX is the first of four identical MRX keelboats to belaunched in Wellington - a scheme designed to encourage more high-level yacht racing onWellington's harbour.The funds raised at Hebtro are used each year to give 300 or more children an opportunityto have a go at sailing, and a further 100 take part in subsided Lean to Sail Courses. Additionally, coaching support is provided for all junior sailors over summer weekends atthe Worser Bay Boating Club.
