Dear Sir/Madam,

The Northern Pegasus Bay Bylaw controls activities on the beaches located within the Waimakariri District Council for the benefit and enjoyment of all users and to minimise environmental impacts arising from these activities. The beaches within the District include Kairaki, Pines, Woodend, Waikuku and Pegasus beaches.

The 2010 Bylaw has been reviewed as required by the Local Government Act 2002 and a number of changes are proposed for the Northern Pegasus Bay Bylaw 2015.

Activities that are controlled include the scattering or burial of human remains, freedom camping, equestrian activities and the use of vehicles. Controls also apply to dogs and the use of kite surfs, sand yachts, microlights, powered trikes, drones and model aircraft in the Ashley River/Rakahuri and Saltwater Creek estuarine areas.

As your organisation has been identified as one that might have an interest in the Waimakariri District Council Northern Pegasus Bay Bylaw 2015 we are notifying you directly via this email and also by mail, of the opportunity to make a submission to the proposed 2015 Bylaw. The proposed Bylaw has also been publicly notified to provide members of the public an opportunity to make a submission.

I have attached a summary of the proposal for your information. The full Statement of Proposal can be viewed at any Waimakariri District Council Service Centre or Library during ordinary office hours, downloaded from the Council’s website, or obtained from me upon request.

Details about public drop-in information sessions and how your organisation can make a submission are provided on the attached Summary of Information.

Submissions on the proposed Bylaw can be made to the Council between 7 February 2015 and 11 March 2015.

Best Wishes
