Planning is well advanced for the Wellington Harbour Festival, six weeks of Ocean Water Sports action on Wellington Harbour this summer.

“This is the second year of the Wellington Harbour Festival which includes a diverse range of water sports,” said Wellington Mayor Celia Wade-Brown.

“This event showcases our stunning harbour and encourages people of all ages and abilities to get wet in or on the water, as well as watching world class races.”

Wellington Freewave/Freerace next weekend

Three weeks have now past since Round 1 of the Wellington Freewave 2011 and we are looking down the barrel of Round 2 this Saturday 26 November 2011. Round 1 saw a group of dedicated sailors take to the water in Evans Bay for the freestyle round and for our first attempt to include freeracing. Conditions were light but just enough to run a race and a 30 minute expression session.

Wellington gets it's mojo back - Wellywood gets 'blown away'

The popular vote for the 'Wellywood' sign is to have a sign saying Wellington with the last 3 letters blowing away. It's great to see that Wellingtonians are getting over the denial stage and willing to celebrate Wellington's wind instead of trying to hide it.
