Windsurfing coaches wanted (Auckland)

If you are a windsurfing coach that is able to inspire windsurfers of all ages to get out on the water and would like a coaching opportunity this coming season, Maraetai Sailing Club are looking for coaches for the following programmes: learn to sail, learn to race, advanced sailing, learn to windsurf, advanced windsurfing. It's been a busy time, with kiwis competing and just sailing in Tahiti and on Maui with great success. Laurence is in the Canary Islands preparing for the next round of the PWA, and reports on his build up and other matters.

Windfoiling - flying the new option

Windfoils (windsurfer with a foil fin) are getting a lot of attention, and if you've been following the PWA slalom series you'll have seen how foiling can extend the wind range of your sailing, as well as providing yet another way to spend money on your sports gear. There are a few kiwi early adopters and a good number who are keen to try. Virtually all major windsurfing companies, and also some foil companies, are now promoting windsurfing foiling and providing lots of advice on the sport - the gear, the techniques, the benefits and risks.

Kiwis competing in PWA Korea - watch livestream

Laurence Carey (NZL252) and Jack Holliday (NZL91) are competing in the PWA World Cup events, Laurence in Ulsan 3-8 May, South Korea, and then Jack is joining Laurence in Japan. You can watch PWA Ulsan live online (3 hours behind NZ)

Hutt City Windsurf Cup Overview (+ video), Canterbury Champs 19 March 2017, Its time to getaway ...
Bringing the experience of a large international windsurf event to New Zealand was the vision for the inaugural Hutt City Windsurf Cup. Certainly the scene played out at Eastbourne on Friday morning could be lifted straight from any of the PWA events around the world. A sea of brand new gear littered the grass area with sail numbers from all over the world. The media people scurried from interview to interview while the drone buzzed overhead. Android Sailing Timer

Sailing Start Watch for your Android phone - emulates standard sailing watch - maybe useful for practicing (on land), or if you have a waterproof phone or waterproof case.
