Lake Hawea windsurfing/kitesurfing event

Sat 30 Nov 2013 - Sun 1 Dec 2013
Lake Hawea

Just giving you some advance notice of an event which will be happening on Lake Hawea 30.Nov/1.Dec. Organised by the Hotel and some local kiters and supported by the club. It will focus around camping and sailing together, with a good night out at the hotel on the Saturday. There may be a ‘downwinder’ and/or some form of freestyle fun competition too, though the exact format is yet to be finalised. (Sorry those of you doing windsurf South Island Cup but we'll always clash with something and it is the windy time there). Contact. Yohann 02108435786.

Southern Lakes Wind Riders AGM

Mon 14 Oct 2013
Brazz Bar, Athol St, Queenstown

Please do come along with ideas about what you’d like out of the club.…..Last year nothing much happened with the club, apart from buying some great beginners/improvers gear to encourage new members (many thanks to Craig for all his hard work to make this happen)…. So this year we’re looking for as many people as possible to get involved so we can share the load and keep this club active. Please think about whether you’d be prepared to do just a little bit, even if it’s just being a contact for new members in your area.

2014 NEW ZEALAND NATIONAL SLALOM WINDSURFING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Wed 5 Feb 2014 - Sun 9 Feb 2014
Dunedin

To be held: Otago Harbour, Dunedin, New Zealand
Organized by: Dunedin Windsports Association Incorporated
In conjunction with Paul Meehan (O.D) Ross Monk (Start Boat) Ravensbourne YC (Rescue Boat)
A New Zealand Windsurfing Association sanctioned event (Updated NOR/Entry)

We are Team New Zealand

Tomorrow, and in the days to come there'll be a piece of ETNZ sailing with me on the water, and I'm sure this will hold true for all kiwi windsurfers. We've all known defeat, but winning is not why we sail, it's the pure joy of sailing, the challenge of doing better, of trying again and again and pulling off the perfect move, just once in a day, a week, or a lifetime. That's what sailing is all about, and ETNZ have embodied that. Well done guys from Windsurfing NZ, you have been inspirational and we are so proud to be kiwis because of your efforts. Thanks ... from Windsurfing NZ.

Clean Up - Christchurch Estuary - Scott Park

Sun 22 Sep 2013
ChCh : Scott Park

CWA are having our annual “clean up the World” day at the estuary this Sunday and would really appreciate just a couple of hours of your time to help us show the community and council we don’t just leave our wake behind at the estuary, we also help keep the estuary clean.

Meet us at windsurf park, midday on Sunday to help walk the edge of the estuary around to Scott park to clear the obvious obstacles that might trip us up during the season, like a tyre or two!

THE DUCK, THE CADILLAC, AND THE REVERSE-ACTION FLARE

I have a difficult relationship with the swell. I want to dominate it, control it, understand it in its smallest detail. Which, of course, is impossible. I know that but I can't help it. When I sail in the swell, my eyes furiously scan the water surface, and my brain integrates and interpolates in its fruitless attempt to predict its shape at tee sub zero, the instant of board contact. I would probably enjoy it more if I could relax and take it as it comes. I do the same thing with life.
