AWA News Nov 2013

Tides
Saturday high tide: 8.30am | Sunday high tide: 9.40am
hot spot
The Weekend forecast not looking to promising. A big high over the North Island, with light West
to SW winds. We might get some sea breezes late in the afternoon but windguru and other sites
all say a similar thing. Light winds.
With very little wind about it will be a matter of keeping an eye on a late afternoon sea breeze
filling in and big gear, otherwise get the Sup out. There might be some light wind formula sailing
at Pt Chev close to the high tides if the forecast holds.

Southern Lakes Wind Riders Special AGM

Mon 18 Nov 2013
Queenstown

AGM/Incorporation Meeting on Monday 18th November 2013 at 8pm at Brazz Bar, Athol St.

Southern Lakes Wind Riders news Oct/Nov 2013 - We're back!

Hi all,

Hope you're getting out on the water.. or at least dusting off the gear ready. These consistent North Westerlies are making Glenorchy, Hawea and Wanaka popular places to sail, at the weekends especially and I hear there are a few getting out at Frankton too. Good on you . The waters pretty good (except immediately after new rain), though the shorelines are rather reduced with little rigging area at some spots.

We had our AGM last week and for those who couldn't make it the notes are attached, do please read ! Lots of fun things planned.

Patrick Haybittle - final report on Civitaceccha Italy and the RS:X Youth Worlds

Pat hit the water on the penultimate day gutted to have missed the Gold Fleet cut off by one place but knowing the Silver Fleet was still full of really strong sailors. He knew he had to go through his processes as always and just keep sailing at his absolute best. Be bottom of the Gold Fleet and you can only go up, top of the Silver Fleet is tough. (read full report)

Xanthe Bowater's account of the RS:X Youth Worlds windsurfing at Civitavecchia.

As you can probably tell, I am now on my way home, currently waiting in transit in Singapore Airport, after completing yet another world championship. I arrived in Italy on the 15th October and spent the first 5 days training ... my very first day out was around 20-25 knots with the biggest waves I have ever sailed in, around meters of swell paired with a sharp chop...(click through for Xanthe's full and very readable account)
