Back to business

Hi Folks,Yes I am back in NZ after an interesting time in China. Scary to see where they will be in the world of Olympic Class Wind Surf racing in the next while. It is certainly going to be a good idea to work with them. They are awesome at starts and train real hard. We will have to be smart to stay in-front of this crew... I hurt my back trying. Buggar. Now I know what it is to be 71 kgs... arrrgh. I am much faster in the coach boat. The week I got back, I did the OPC TV Sports event with Barb, Steve Gurney, Dion Nash, Matthew Sinton, Kim Zander and Nikki De la tour. I survived.. [just] but my apendics a little suss... hmmm may be the Chinese medicine for my back.I have managed to catch up with a few of you and look forward to catching up with the rest of you hopefully on the water on Sunday or Tuesday or on the phone soon.Aaron and JP have been getting good results in the SPA regatta. JP has been in Europe a while now getting good results. They will be glad that it is warming up there. Snowy is training some where warm in Europe for the next regattas.Hope if you have been able you have been in-contact with YNZ and are making good use of the EARS program. It is great to hear some of you are training hard as often as possible and I am sure those that are will be reaping the benefits in time to come. It is really hard to train in winter, especially on your own. This shows special determination and history has shown that those that can and do train hard in all conditions and situations and also work hard to motivate others to train with them, eventually come out on top. Hours count, so.... Go for it!This news letter has the following ;1. Coaching program2. IMCO Gear wanted3. Qualifiers for the World Champs [remember women don't have to pre qualify.]4. Qualifiers for the Europeans5. My latest itinerary attached. NB not many solid plans due to current lack of high performance funding.... But I am working on that.CoachingYNZ has started coaching for the sailors and Julie Worth has started coaching the windsurfers with a focus on those going over seas..Thanks to Julie and Peter Lester for initiating this!YNZ have asked me to do 10 hours per week. My employers, the Millenium Center of Sport and Health have kindly enabled me to do this.So here it goes! For those than can be there on time, and those that stay late as possible, you will get more time on the water at the end of the day. So take as much advantage as you can of the training offered and ask as many well thought out questions as you can! This all stops again on the 16th of June! You will note that the coaching starts rather early on Tuesday. This is so I can give more individual time to each person during the evening sessions. This won't mean that those that arrive early will be favored. If you want me to speak to your employers, tutors, teachers or parents to see if we can get you out there earlier, call me. If you have any problems, concerns, suggestions with dates and times call me. If you cannot make it, call me. 021 709 739. I am not asking you not to study etc, but if you have a free period that afternoon, I may be able to help. Remember it gets dark at 5:30 so there isn't much time for mid week training! Here are the dates and times. If you have any questions or concerns, call me. There is a chance that times and locations may be changed, we can, so stay in-touch, check your emails.Sunday 27th May, 2:00 pm Mission Bay.
