Kendall and Tobin at RS:X European Champs

Barbara Kendall holds 2nd place and Jon-Paul Tobin holds 4th place at the RS:X board sailing European Championships underway in Cyprus.

Just one race was sailed overnight in blustery conditions with winds averaging around 25 knots.

Kendall placed 8th in the only race of the day and holds onto 2nd overall behind Marina Alabau (ESP) who has the lead. Allessandra Sensini (ITA) is just one point behind Kendall in 3rd place.

'Jon-Paul Tobin, Joao Rodrigues (POR) and Ivan Pastor (ESP) are all square in fourth overall, the three sailed top five performances today. Jon-Paul who rounded the bottom mark in second place during the race, fell on the jibe in the tricky conditions, but still recovered quickly enough to finish fourth,' reports the regatta website.

A lay-day is now scheduled with racing set to resume in Cyprus on Tuesday. The regatta concludes on Thursday.
