This is a key role for YNZ, providing on the ground support to clubs and sailors, helping build club capability, growing participation and raise awareness throughout schools and the community. This is a challenging role requiring the RSO to manage multiple demands over a large region.

We require someone who is truly passionate about sailing and growing the sport in New Zealand; someone who knows yacht clubs is fresh thinking and has a creative approach to growing the sport, is able to work with a wide variety of people (young and old) and can be the face of Yachting New Zealand in the regions.

The successful candidate will need to be able to work outside “normal working hours” as this role requires weekend and after hours work. This is a 30 hour per week role. The RSO reports directly to Yachting New Zealand National Programmes Manager, Andrew Clouston.

RAYC seeks new General Manager
Are you a marine sports enthusiast keen to turn your interest and talent into a rewarding career? The Royal Akarana Yacht Club is after a new General Manager to lead and run the full operations of the club. You will be responsible for the day to day management of the club as well as leading a small team to deliver the numerous exciting marine sports events throughout the year.

You will be working closely with the club's Commodore and professional members of the General Committee and play a key part in establishing and delivering the long term growth objectives of the club. Your role will require customer focus, passion for saling and watersports, and above all the initiative and drive to deliver the outcomes of a successfull and historic yacht club. You will be based in one of the best working environments in New Zealand - right on the waterfront at Okahu Bay. After seven years of service our General Manager is leaving the yacht club to pursue an extended offshore sailing adventure - the time is perfect to take the club to the next level. This yacht club, with a 117 year heritage, is the home of keelboat and blue water sailing in New Zealand. Unique in its position on Auckland’s water front, RAYC also offers dinghy and catamaran racing, a growing surf ski fleet, and a sailing academy teaching children and adult learn to sail courses.

The club is in a period of expansion and growth and as General Manager you will be an integral member in this phase of the clubs development. In addition to this the role has overall responsibility for the day to day running of the yacht club, facilities and fleet management, membership development, funding and sponsorship initiatives, functions and events (including café and bar staffing), revenue growth and financial reporting.

The role reports to the Commodore and manages a team of two full time employees responsible for marine sports activities and sailing academy operation.

This position would suit a person with a background of professional sports club management or a commercial management background looking for a change of scene.
