2016 Tauranga Spring Windsurf Weekend
If you haven’t registered yet then all you need to so is email peter@elementswatersports.co.nz and let me know.
Entries are limited so if you are keen then just let me know.
You can all check the forecast and know how much to trust them a week out. Mine is showing good winds on fri and sat with fluff on the Sunday. On the plus side the N-NE-E direction will mean racing from Kulim Park. Long reaches in mostly waist to shoulder deep water. Gear can be left rigged overnight in our boat shed.

If you want to make contact with fellow sailors Facebook is fairly active and up to date, often used to check conditions and arrange meetings on a daily basis.

Classic social event and a great way to start the windy season. Winds have not disappointed the last 2 years. Great venue, easy to access and sail for all levels from beginners up. Check out the Facebook page, and look for videos and pictures of past events.

It's normal practice to hold the WNZ AGM at the Nationals as this is the one time when most of those active in the organisation are able to get together. The actual date, time and place are to be confirmed - the practical approach over the last few years is to hold the AGM during down time (which does occur) during the event, i.e. while waiting for wind ... so anyone planning to attend who will not actually be at the event needs to be aware of this and make sure we have your contact details.

In the Silver fleet Alex Stroh took first with Rohan Cooke, Bernard carey, John Davies and Ropata Marshall completing the set.

This season there will be a North Island Cup (slalom) awarded to the best result from 3 events:
- Tauranga Spring Windsurf Fun Slalom 20/21 September
- Wellington Slalom Plus 29/30 November
- Auckland Slalom Series (1 selected round)
Results will be based on the individuals best results from 2 of the 3 events (i.e. Auckland/Tauranga or Tauranga/Wellington) - this should mean you are in with a chance if you only enter 2 of the 3 events

Those that attended this season starter were not disappointed - once again it delivered conditions that we are assured are not typical, with winds varying from one extreme to the other to provide opportunities for all 'wind persuasions' to excel at some stage or other. It was great to see an increased number of young sailors. Big thanks to the sponsors and those that made the event possible. The Auckland and Wellington events have a high bar to aspire to now. An excellent write up of the event is available on the BOP Windsurfers site. More...

A windsurfing club is a great way to get into windsurfing. Your local windsurfing club will will introduce you into your local windsurfing community. A solo sport like windsurfing can make it hard to get advice on where to sail, what to buy and what to do. By joining a club you'll get all these things an so much more. BBQs, film evenings, instruction days, trips away, competitions, friends and sailing partners.
