Lake Ferry weekend away confirmed for 4-5 November. Social event on the Saturday night - I will just need to confirm numbers the week before to finalise the dinner booking.

Make your own accomodation arrangements - plenty of options: rent a house, camp or cabin in the campground, or the hotel itself.

The Hutt City Windsurf Cup is on track and looking to be the biggest windsurfing event Wellington has seen in a long time. Aimed at a wide range os sailing abilities, it also promises to be a great experience for spectators, with on-shore markets and food stalls to back up the on-water excitement. It's never too late to enter and be part of the event, and be in the running for some great spot prizes. Click through for details.

This event will be apart of the Pacific Windsurf Series ( confirming minor details at the moment with each country. This will include Hawaii, Japan, Tahiti, New Caledonia and Australia).

Popular sailing spot in a southerly is about to have a fenced dog exercise area attached to it without consultation. The area in McEwan Park, Petone is one of the most popular locations for beginner/recreational windsurfing and kiteboarding in Wellington, and one of the few locations sailable in a southerly wind.
Users of this area know that people exercising dogs in this area are already a problem with little respect for the other users. The council is planning to fence off a grassed area used for rigging , launching and practising kite flying. The area will attract many more dog owners, creating parking problems in a location which is already used to capacity on a good day. Besides the windsports users the area is used by numerous others for sports activities.

Just a heads up - Centre Port started a consultation process and will be releasing details on Thursday. The proposal includes dredging around Aotea Wharf, and deepening of the entrance to Wellington to allow larger container ships to dock.
The first pre-consultation meeting was last night in Eastbourne. Why? Because possibly the most dramatic impact will be the effect on surf conditions along the Eastern Bays, potentially by 80% (reduction)! There will also be changes on the Seatoun side.

If you want to make contact with fellow sailors Facebook is fairly active and up to date, often used to check conditions and arrange meetings on a daily basis.

Eastbourne once again turned it on for the windsurfers, with winds from 25 to 30 knots for most of the day allowing 13 races to be completed.
Conditions were fast and demanding with plenty of spills and some close finishes for the 22 sailors who turned up to sample the windiest city in the world.
