Taranaki Wave Classic 2011 - update

If you’ve entered this year’s Taranaki Wave Classic you’ll be pleased to know that over the past month Taranaki’s wind and wave gods have been delivering the goods, with the locals enjoying great sessions at all their favourite spots, including some classic Waitara and Pungarehu action. Yep – you heard it right – Pungas is back online for the new season, complete with solid swell and the occasional orca coasting by. We’ve even had a few Aucklanders do the hell day mission down here to score some great Waitara conditions and get in some sneaky pre-TWC practice! Taranaki’s coastline provides conditions to suit all levels of sailing, so if you haven't entered yet get down here for the long weekend and enjoy the amazing camaraderie and conditions that the TWC brings. You'll get to windsurf and surf your heart out, meet some great people, and maybe walk away with a brand new Carbon Art waveboard as well!

This year’s event is lining up to be better and bigger than ever, with an awesome group of sponsors who’ll be showing off the latest and greatest in windsurf gear, as well as providing over $10000 worth of amazing prizes. The TWC 2011 sponsors are headed up by New Zealand’s own Carbon Art and Rodgers Dental, and the prizes include a new top-of-the-line Carbon Art waveboard, a Gaastra wavesail, K4 quad fins, a custom-made Seventh Wave wetsuit, C3 fins, a GoPro camera from Deepfried/Ocean Outfitters, a boom each from Boardstore and Watercooled, gear bags from StashIt, not to mention some MollyWoppy cookies to really get the adrenalin pumping! Local sponsors are also showing great support; a warm thank you to Spore, Hayden Priest, Port Taranaki, West Coast Sails, Oakura Motor Camp, Vertigo, Oakura 4Square, and the Lifting Centre.

So get ready for a great weekend of wind and waves, sun and surf, and tall tales over bbqs and beer. This is the weekend for us wavesailors to crank the fun up to 11!

You can still enter on the Day!!!!!
