If you want to make contact with fellow sailors Facebook is fairly active and up to date, often used to check conditions and arrange meetings on a daily basis.

Hope you had a good Xmas and wishing you all the best for a Happy New Year and lots of fun adventures in 2016. Hope you’ve all been getting lots of sailing in. The water at last is really warming up.. so get on out there and have some fun. Couple of winges to start I’m afraid but bear with us… that’s one of the reasons we need a club, to protect kiting and windsurfing spots in the area. Better news later in the newsletter.

One Mile Sailing.

The weather forecast is for westerlies, some possible brief rain on Sat but otherwise looking good. So bring all your toys and come stay over for a party on the Sat night too. Remember the hotel are doing cheap rate rooms so say you're here for the event if booking. Nothing structured, just turn up and play and see us in the pub after. !

Hope to see lots of you up there.

Sue 0276408596.

Come to Glenorchy for a fun weekend of sailing together. Nothing special structured but we’ll have the BBQ,club trainer kite, windsurf gear and SUP there too. Bring your own other toys so you can enjoy this lovely area whatever. The Glenorchy Hotel are once again doing special room & backpacker rates or there’s camping nearby. (Backpacker beds are 25.00 each Hotel ensuite rooms are 95.00 and hotel non facility rooms are 80.00.) We’ll be planning on getting very social on the Sat night and there may be a band. Bring you dancing mojo !

SOUTHERN LAKES WIND RIDERS NEWS. Nov. 2015.
Wow what an amazingly windy start to the season ! A group of us have been windsurfing at Rat Point many days a week and I hear some kiters have been going to Crighton, there’s certainly lots of wind around and with El Nino forecast for the summer it looks like a good season is in store.

Glenorchy Fun Weekend coming soon. 5/6th Dec.

Hi All, IMPORTANT PLEASE READ TO THE END
Just a quick update from the AGM last week on a few important points for the coming season. I will send out the formal minutes tomorrow to the database.

11/10/2015

We have set a date and time for the Club AGM.
Date & Time 13th October 6.30pm
Location Mercure Queenstown 21 Sainsbury Road Fernhill. Free nibbles !
All welcome please bring some ideas for events this season. We will address funding for the new anemometer in GY that has been set up, events for this season, administration, membership fees and much more. Do please think about whether you could give a hand being part of a team in helping organise things for the club this year. (Dean and Sue both want to stand down and let some new energy come through)

It's normal practice to hold the WNZ AGM at the Nationals as this is the one time when most of those active in the organisation are able to get together. The actual date, time and place are to be confirmed - the practical approach over the last few years is to hold the AGM during down time (which does occur) during the event, i.e. while waiting for wind ... so anyone planning to attend who will not actually be at the event needs to be aware of this and make sure we have your contact details.
