RNZYS seeks Sailing Manager: act quickly

The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (RNZYS) is New Zealand’s senior yacht club. Our reputation on the international yachting scene ensures that the Squadron occupies a position of prestige both nationally and internationally.

We are looking to appoint a Sailing Manager who is passionate about the sport of sailing and who will be responsible for proactively and enthusiastically managing the day to day operations of our busy sailing office making sure that all sailing and boating activities are meeting agreed objectives. This will include working with the various sailing committees to ensure that yacht racing programmes, notices of race, sailing instructions and event management requirements are prepared, scheduled and delivered in a timely and professional manner.

Reporting to the General Manager, the successful applicant will have:

•Significant experience in yacht racing, race management and sailing operations and from a competitive and technical perspective have the skills and knowledge to provide strong, supportive and motivational leadership.
•Strong administration, communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
•Able to develop, manage and sustain effective working relationships with people at all levels both within and outside the yacht club.
•Experience in monitoring and controlling financial resources and operational objectives.
•An understanding of keel, power and inflatable boat maintenance requirements.
•Strong computer and report writing skills

This permanent, full-time position can be demanding and requires a reliable, hands-on, self-motivated individual who is flexible and able to work evenings and weekends. A current ‘full’ driver’s licence is necessary.
