Reminder: Eastbourne Slalom Plus - windsurfing racing and social weekend

The 2014 Slalom Plus event at Eastbourne in Wellington this weekend is shaping up to be a great social event as well as a great competition. Thanks to everyone that has entered already - if you haven't and want to get involved - Enter online at http://wwa.org.nz and you go in the draw for a $50 Havana Coffee voucher.
Friday night - early arrivals and locals can take advantage of the Eastbourne Brew’d Tavern Friday night free BBQ and Happy Hour starting at 5pm.
Saturday - Registration from 9:30, racing from 12 to 4pm. All entrants will be able to buy drinks and food from the Eastbourne Sports and Services Club (ESSC). We also hope to have snacks, a BBQ and fruit. In the evening Brew’d Tavern are reserving their outside bar for us and will provide a very good deal on drinks and food.
Sunday - earlier start for an earlier finish, 11am to 3pm, all wrapped up by 4pm so those that have to travel can get away.
Spot prizes - our sponsors have come up with some great prizes, including a great fin-bag from Epic Surf (http://www.epicsurf.co.nz/windsurf-fin-bag.htm) valued at $200 plus other accessories, and a $500 wetsuit from Watersports (http://www.nzsailing.net/)
All this for $20, and that's before you even get on the water! (you must also be a member of an affiliated windsurfing club).
Racing will be tailored to suit the conditions, and the entries - if there are enough entries then Gold, Silver and perhaps Bronze fleets will be assigned. Starts will be either off the beach, or by boat, and races will be simple figure of 8 around two bouys. Depending on conditions there may also be a long distance race to Ward Island or other activities. There will be racers from out of town, new equipment to see, maybe other activities. The focus will be on fun. If you can water start you can probably compete, and you don’t need racing gear. If you don’t feel like racing then you can still sail and join in the fun - including the benefits above.
