Memorial to windsurfer unveiled

In mild, wet, but calm and peaceful conditions on Saturday morning, friends and family gathered at Jardines Beach, south of Jacks Point, to unveil a memorial and remember windsurfer Jude Green who died on the lake just over a year ago.

Windsurfing memorial poignant

This year's Big Queenstown Downwinder windsurfing and kite boarding race will be especially poignant for many participants. The race is open to all and is a social day out with a competitive edge. This year, the annual event, organised by The Southern Lakes Wind Riders Club, will also be a memorial for Queenstown windsurfer Jude Green who died on Lake Wakatipu a year ago today.

National Slalom event makes local newspapers - great coverage for sport.

The recently completed National Slalom event in Dunedin made great reading in 2 local newspapers. A great article on James Dinnis in the Tranaki Daily Times, and equally good coverage of Sue Bradley's win in the ODT make good reading.

Death of experienced windsurfer a tragic accident, coroner says

The death of a Queenstown woman while windsurfing on Lake Wakatipu this year was a "tragic accident", Otago Southland Regional coroner David Crerar has found. In his formal findings released at the weekend, Mr Crerar said office worker Judith Kaye Green (51) died at Woolshed Bay on February 16 after she fell from her board.
