Are you interested in Kiteboard Racing?
Everybody who has an interest in kiteboard racing is invited to YNZ’s offices on 16th May at 7pm for a discussion around the implementation of Kiteboard racing in NZ.
As you are mostly all aware the Kiteboard has been given the vote to be included in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
This is a decision that has come as a bit of a surprise and we need to get organised in NZ as soon as possible.
Whilst this decision has presented a few challenges it also provides a great opportunity to organise racing across

Bic Techno Oceania’s and RS:X National Championships 2012

February proved again that the wind can be very shifty and light. Great for socialising on the beach but more difficult for setting a fair course off Manly Beach.

A Techno competition doubled as the Oceania's and the NZ Nationals. There were four competitors from Noumea and one from Australia as well as a bunch of new local sailors in this class.

Sail Auckland 2012 largely becalmed on final day - RS:X gets 2 races away

The final day of Sail Auckland 2012 was plagued by light winds and extremely shifty conditions.
There were no races completed today in the 470, 420, Laser, Laser Radial and Finn, so final results in those divisions are the ones that remain from yesterday. The RS:X, SKUD 18 and 2.4mR were the lucky three classes to finish both of their races as scheduled, and the 29er and 49er skiffs had just one.

NZL Sailing Team lead at Sail Auckland

New Zealand’s selected Olympians for 2012 are all proving their status as top in their fleet of NZ, and two National Champions are about to emerge as favourable conditions continued today.
The Women’s RS:X now sees Kohimarama Yacht Club’s Steffanie Williams in the lead, with Australia’s Jessica Crisp and the NZL Sailing Team’s Natalia Kosinska only a handful of points behind. The highly competitive Men’s RS:X standings have remained the same today, with Switzerland’s Richard Stauffacher maintaining a narrow lead over 2011 Men’s RS:X World Champion Dorian Van Rijsselberghe of the Netherlands. JP Tobin (Men’s RS:X ) is giving time for his foot wound to heal and is not competing.

Despite a lack of wind, and several showers coming through, a good time was had by all at the youth slalom clinic. The spot prizes from Carbon Art went down a treat, and at the end a Carbon Art slalom board came out for a spin – it was apparently “amazing!” Here are a few photos from the day .. http://youth.windsurfingnz.org/

Youth Windsurfing Slalom Clinic - change of venue!

Due to wind conditions and safety concerns, the youth slalom clinic which is being held this Saturday, December 17th, will be at LAKE PUPUKE instead of Takapuna Beach as originally advertised. Same start time, 11am. Remember Alan of Madloop is based at the lake and has gear to hire if you need it.
