2010 Auckland Freestyle Windsurfing Champs - the final chapter ... results, pics

What a timing….. the weekend of 29/30 May was the last one for the standby period set for the 2010 Auckland Freestyle Champs. The AWA end of season prize-giving party was also on for Sat 29 May. So this was the last chance to run the comp in time to hand out the trophy at the party. After two “no-go’s” the previous weekends where the forecast didn’t hold what it promised we decided to try it again. Third time lucky!

Auckland Freestyle Windsurfing Champs - postponed again

The forecast doesn't look good for this coming weekend to run the Auckland Freestyle Champs so we decided to postpone the event to the following weekend. Check for updates during the week

Auckland Freestyle Windsurfing event postoned - again :^( ..%$#@! wind!!..

The event was postponed again. Arriving in 25 Knots it looked soooo promising. Unfortunately the heavy rain took the wind with it....We waited for a couple of hours hoping the westerly will fill in strong enough but no -beautiful sunshine instead. Saussages and beer went down well though(big thanks to Jim again) We'll keep the event on standby...cross fingers for the next few weekends, maybe we're third time lucky!

Auckland windsurfing freestyle event looking good for Saturday

The forecast is looking good to run the comp at Pt Chev tomorrow Sat 15. May. We'll try to start the first heat at 12.00 as the wind is supposed to peak after lunch.
All entries from last week are still in, but plenty of room left. registration from 11.00 on.
Wicked spotprizes and trophies for the Auckland Freestyle Champs to be won!!!!
Any questions 021 14 22 830

Auckland Freestyle Windsurfing event postoned

The event has been postponed due to a lack of wind today. Forecast looked promising but it had quiet a bit of south in it when we turned up. Never pushed through strong enough. So we called it off at 12.30. All entries will stay in (thanks for turning up everyone) and we'll put it on standby again. Maybe next weekend (Sunday is a non event day though) or the week after. Also thanks to Pete, Jim etc. for your help and support

The Auckland Freestyle Windsurfing Champs - more details

The event - The Auckland Freestyle Champs is a comp designed to promote freestyle in the Auckland area and nationwide in a fun environment.
The event is run on a standby mode to get the best possible conditions. This year the standby period is set for the whole month of May with Sat/Sun being possible competition days. Everyone is welcome and you don’t have to be an expert to participate. If a jibe is the most radical maneuver you can do, that’s fine as long as you do it with a big smile on your face! You might get inspired by tricks that other riders perform and try one yourself. There is no pressure or other competition hassle, it’s still a “fun” event!
