National Freestyle Champs day 1

Long day on the water today, total of 7 heats sailed and top three after the first day are: 1. Thomas Davies 2.Tom Taylor 3.Pete Smith
Conditions were 5.3-5.8 weather, gusty at times but overall pretty good. Yes, entry numbers are a bit low, but hey we are just starting something here....If you don't do something it's never gonna happen! Location for tomorrow is Pt Chev and skippers meeting is set at 9.30am

AWA party and prize giving (Freestyle Nationals)

We’re kicking the season off with a party to celebrate all that wind that we’ve just had combined with the prize giving for the Freestyle Nationals on Saturday night. If you’re planning on coming can you please let me know so that we can cater for the right number of people.

Harbour Sports Excellence Awards

In 2009 yachties dominated at the Harbour Sports Excellence Awards, taking out four Awards, and nominations are now open for 2010. Yacht Clubs in the region can nominate high achieving members – nomination forms and more information are available on the Harbour Sports website http://www.harboursport.co.nz/

New Zealand Freestyle Nationals Sailing Instructions for 2010.

These Sailing Instructions (SI’s) are intended to ensure that the best competitor wins through individual skill, good fortune, and quality of equipment alone, and not as a result of procedural devices or legalistic argument. The SI’s should be read in conjunction with the Notice of Race.

Auckland Slalom and Funboard Series

We will be running the 2nd Round of the Auckland Slalom Series on Saturday 25th September 2010 at Pt. Chev. High Tide is 8.30am, so first possible race start is 10.00am. The forecast is for 16 Knots Westerly.

Mission Bay Watersports is looking for windsurfer and kayak instructors

There is one full time management position for someone with windsurfing/kayaking instructor experience, as well as a boatmaster qualification and first-aid certificate. There are also several casual jobs available to help out when the bookings are busy. If you are a windsurfer without a qualification, but are keen to teach, then why not check out the WindsurfingNZ training courses. We would be happy to take on anyone who has just qualified- Then maybe you could be spending your summer earning money on the beach!!

Techno Kendall Cup


The Techno Kendall Cup Regattas for 2010-11 season, the scoring system to be used, and the reporting of results, have been decided and announced by the NZ Techno Class Association Committee.

The seven Kendall Cup regattas are:
Winter Champs - Murrays Bay - 1-3 October
North Shore Champs - Takapuna - 13-14 November
Sir Peter Blake Memorial - Torbay - 4-5 December
Junior Sail Auckland - Kohimarama - 12-13 February
Auckland Centreboard Champs - Howick - 5-6 March
RS:X/Techno North Islands - Tauranga - 12-13 March
Supercity Youth Regatta - Torbay - 16-18 April
