Barbara Kendall - first windsurfer, first woman and youngest ever Life Member of Yachting New Zealand

Yachting New Zealand has two new Life Members including the first woman and youngest ever to be bestowed the honour in New Zealand. At the 56th Annual General Meeting of Yachting New Zealand, held on Saturday 2nd October 2010, it was announced that Barbara Kendall (MBE) and Ralph Roberts (MBE and JP) have been appointed Life Members of yachting’s national sports body. The honour, which comes after a recommendation from the YNZ’s Board of Directors to the AGM, recognises exemplary service to Yachting New Zealand and in the interests of yachting generally.

New Zealand’s top Olympic campaigners will be in action on home territory and organisers extend a warm invitation to their trans-Tasman and other international rivals to take part in some exiting racing in our world class sailing waters.

Racing commences on Thursday 3rd of February at 1100 hours off Auckland’s North Shore beaches on three separate course areas for all but the Paralympic classes, which will get underway the following day on a course on Auckland’s Waitemata.
