2012 Freestyle Nationals New Zealand

Sat 1 Dec 2012 - Sun 2 Dec 2012
Wellington

The 2012 New Zealand Freestyle National Championships will be held from Dec. 1 to 2 in Wellington New Zealand.
The Championships will be organised by the WWA Wellington Windsurfing Association, for and on behalf of WNZ Windsurfing New Zealand.
The event will be based in Wellington, an exact location still to be confirmed.
During Dec. the weather conditions are generally windy. Expect the full range of wind conditions from 15 to 40knots. Temperatures require at least a summer wetsuit.
The 2009/2012 ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing – Windsurfing Competition Rules (WCR);

Australia and most of the Pacific Island nations support the decision for kite-board racing for the Olympics

Yachting New Zealand has confirmed that both Area L (SW Pacific) representatives will be voting in favour of kiteboards at the upcoming Annual meeting of the International Sailing Federation, despite lodging its own submission which supports the re-reinstatement of the Windsurfer as an Olympic event. Understandably this has created a great deal of consternation and anger in New Zealand, particularly in the windsurfing community.

Work for Windsurfing NZ - marketing/sponsorship/fundraising role

WNZ has a number of projects which require funding, mainly linked to promoting the sport and introducing it as a great life-long activity. We are keen to get someone on-board to focus on raising funds for these projects, and will look at any proposal offered. Contact us for further information.

A gloriously sunny day, a light SE breeze, and clean and glassy mast high waves – there could not have been a better setting for the 2012 NZ Nationals (and this was with a forecast that constantly deteriorated over the preceding week!).
