The Semaine Olympique Française Hyères -- TPM will start on the 24th of April
- 1012 registered sailors - 716 sailing teams (1012 athletes) from 58 countries for the fourth leg of the Sailing World Cup, from the 24th to the 30th of April in Hyères.

ISAF approves the Kona One Design class

It has been announce that only in its 4th season as an established class, the Kona One met the ISAF criteria's and was acknowledged with an overwhelming 11 to 2 majority vote at the 2009 ISAF conference last November - among the 13 international delegates.

ISAF recognises kiteboarding

Following the approval of the International Kiteboarding Association as an ISAF International Class at last year’s Annual Conference, this year the Council approved Submission 006-09 approved to change to the Windsurfing Committee to become the Windsurfing and Kiteboarding Committee.

Turkey to host 2010 Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championships

The Atakoy Marina in Istanbul, Turkey was presented as the host venue for the 2010 Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship last week during the 2009 championship recently concluded in Buzios, Brazil.

Istanbul 2010 will mark the 40th edition of the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship, the world’s top youth sailing event, with over 300 young sailors from 60-plus nations expected to attend. Competition will take place from 8-17 July across eight events, open to competitors younger than 19 years on 31 December 2010.

Experimental Kiteboarding Competition Rules have been released

The International Sailing Federation (ISAF) has announced today that the Experimental Kiteboarding Competition Rules have been released and published on the ISAF website.

RS:X or Formula? ISAF Windsurfing Committee decides

The ISAF Windsurfing Committee decided this morning by a vote of 7 votes to 2 to support the selection of the RS:X as the equipment for the 2012 Olympic Regatta
Although this is a positive step forward, the final decision will be made by the ISAF Council at the end of this week. The vote against Formula is exactly the same as the vote made by the windsurfing committee at the 2000 ISAF Conference in Edinburgh. The windsurfing committee also decided that prize money in cash or in kind is permitted but may not be a requirement as per the ISAF contract in its Olympic contract.

2009 ISAF Youth Worlds Selection Policy announced

In August 2008 Yachting New Zealand, released a draft edition of the Guidelines for Nomination and Selection of the 2009 ISAF Youth Worlds Team. Since this announcement there has been significant debate with respect to amending the process to give New Zealand sailors a better chance of success at the ISAF youth worlds, as well as various Class World Championships.

Olympic RS:X Gold Medallist and World Champ Tom Ashley nominated for ISAF Sailor of the Year

ISAF and Rolex are proud to announce the Nominees for the ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards 2008. ISAF received nominations from across the world representing all aspects of the sport in two categories - male and female - and the following 10 nominations have been shortlisted. The qualifying period is the year up until 1 September 2008 and all achievements during this time are taken into consideration.

New Zealand has won two bronze medals and finished second in the Volvo Trophy battle for overall team performance at the 2008 Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championships just concluded in Denmark.
