IFCA Slalom rule changes proposed: lower wind minimum, more sails and boards, wider boards

During the last AGM of the IFCA in Sylt , May 2013, a new policy was proposed by some competitors.
If adopted, this would change the Funboard slalom racing substantially.
Current rules
Wind limit min 11 knots, max sails 4, max boards 2, board width 250mm-850mm
Proposed new rules
Wind limit min 7 knots, max sails 5 or 6, max boards 3, board width 250mm-900mm

Laurence Carey - Day 1 IFCA youth worlds in Alicati Turkey, rough start to day gets better

Laurence was disqualified from the first heat of the first round as 8 out of 9 went over the start line early. Racing in heat 9 with 20 other contestants he placed 2nd! A good day of racing. Started off on 8.6 and ended up on 7.0 in the final. Wasn't exactly the start I was looking for with a disqualification however got to the final in the end.
Round 2 Laurence was 3rd in the semi and 4th in the final.
Heres a live stream for anyone wanting to watch tomorrow. http://www.hires.com.tr/

Laurence Carey's account of his trip to the IFCA World Slalom Champs at Curacao, Carribean

Laurence Carey recently won the Under 20 Youth title at the Windsurfing New Zealand national Slalom Competition in Dunedin. He was then invited to compete in the IFCA Slalom World Championships in Curacao. With support from various sponsors and friends he made the trip and despite disappointing conditions at his first international event he returned with a #7 ranking and a plan to go further.

This is his account.

IFCA Worlds on Curacao comes to a close

The wind conditions were far from great, which is unusual on Curacao this time of year. Still, the race directors and competitors managed to sail one elimination round so official World Champions could be crowned. During the week, thousands of spectators came to the Surf Town and even more followed the event online.

Curacao:WindGuru+Forecast+Live Video+Time (16 hours behind NZ)
25 April 2011:On the final day the expected 20knots didn't arrive unfortunately, so there was no more racing! I ended up coming 7th which I'm rather happy with. The masters unfortunately couldn't do there final due to a lack of wind so there was six winners! Epic experience, and thankyou all so much for the support, and helping me get here! Next year in turkey I think more kiwis need to go and iv got great news for the worlds in 2 years... But you'll have to wait till I get back. Once again thankyou so much. Holla
