South Island Cup Report

The first round of the South Island Cup got underway on the 5th Dec' in Dunedin with a perfect sunny day. We had 18 men and 6 women enter, so the men were split into two heats so the starts weren't to dangerous!

We started out in 15-18 knots with most on 7m sails, had 2 rounds then a short break, another 2 rounds in similar conditions, at which time the tide was getting a little low so some of the marks had to be moved. The next 2 rounds the wind had increased slightly, some changed down to 6.4/5.9m sails and smaller boards.

Any location in NZ as long as CWA member .
- Contest season runs from 1 April 2009 to 31 March 2010
- The only requirements are having a GPS unit that data can be downloaded from.
- The results used for 2008/2009 season will be an average of an individuals 5 fastest days times - (only the fastest time from each day.) (Any draw , fastest individual time will be used, then the next fastest & so one .)
Positional data will be used still as opposed to doppler , as many people still use older GPS units (For software calculated speed).
