Weekend in the Wairarapa

Coming up is our 2011 Wairarapa weekend on 14th-15th May, so fingers crossed for some better weather. From mid-morning Saturday we'll be based at Lake Ferry - a great freeride, speed and freestyle spot, plus there are the numerous Cape Palliser breaks for wavesailing nearby too.

2011 Wave Nationals - we have a winner!

2011 wave nationals congrats to winner Paul Barron - A Great few days sailing in pumping condition. The Two Pauls were the stand outs of the event. Paul B was super smooth and Paul H was super unlucky breaking three sails at the wrong times.

The Taranaki Windsurf Club with the help of Carbon Art and Rodgers Dental announce the 2011 New Zealand Wave Nationals
The event is a national-ranking Man-on-Man wave sailing contest run on the Taranaki coast. Seven different coastal locations will serve as the venue and the outcome will be the crowning of a New Zealand wave champion.

WWA - Freewave Round 3 Finale - Clayton Dougan crowned again

Awesome out of control conditions for the third and last round of the Wellington Freewave series for 2010. 40 knots plus at Lyall Bay and grunty logo southerly swell saw another reduced amount of entries. But enough for two heats, a repercharge and a final.

Taranaki Wave Classic

The organisers did a brilliant job of organising the event but could not control the wind - but despite the lack of this essential component a great weekend was had by all. Over 80 windsurfers from as far away as Dunedin spent the weekend floating around on their biggest windsurfers or stand-up paddling (SUP), a popular alternative for windless windsurfers.
