RS:X

Parick Haybittle - 7th in RS:X at the 2014 RYA Youth Nationals 2014

Patrick showed his developing talent as his placings at the event clearly showed. A first in race 1 and firsts in the final two rounds were not enough to place him higher in a highly competitive fleet which was the class to watch at the event. Patrick:"Have had such an awesome event over the past 5 days with close racing and plenty of action. Glad to have finished on a high by winning the last two races.

Patrick Haybittle - final report on Civitaceccha Italy and the RS:X Youth Worlds

Pat hit the water on the penultimate day gutted to have missed the Gold Fleet cut off by one place but knowing the Silver Fleet was still full of really strong sailors. He knew he had to go through his processes as always and just keep sailing at his absolute best. Be bottom of the Gold Fleet and you can only go up, top of the Silver Fleet is tough. Xanthe Bowater's account of the RS:X Youth Worlds windsurfing at Civitavecchia.

As you can probably tell, I am now on my way home, currently waiting in transit in Singapore Airport, after completing yet another world championship. I arrived in Italy on the 15th October and spent the first 5 days training ... my very first day out was around 20-25 knots with the biggest waves I have ever sailed in, around meters of swell paired with a sharp chop...(click through for Xanthe's full and very readable account)

Patrick Haybittle - Another update from Civitaceccha Italy and the RS:X Youth Worlds

After days 2 racing in tough choppy conditions Pat is still right on mid fleet. Pat posted his best result, a 15th in his fleet of 40 in the last race, race 6. He has been very consistent with his placings just above and below the mid fleet. The first drop has come in and the dropped OCSs and DSQs shuffled some results and pushed Pat down one spot to 42nd out of 80. Day 3 was a rest day. Well deserved after all the training, practice race day and 2 hard days, so Pat and Big D headed to Rome on the train for a look around.
