Young New Zealand Windsurfers bring home Gold for the Worlds women race and a set of great results for the Europeans

Great results were brought home by six teens who attended the Worlds, Europeans and Baltic Cup. The Gold Cup for the Worlds was won by Xanthe Bowater and both boys and girls were well placed in their classes.
Windsurfing is growing as a popular option for young New Zealand sailors, and New Zealand sent a group of teenagers to the European race circuit over their summer to race RS:Xs and Technos against the worlds best young talent.

Windsurfing Event safety check-out / check-in board

At the recent Eastbourne Windsurfing Fun Slalom event we trialled a check-out / check-in board system for managing safety. I first encountered this at the National Slalom event in Dunedin and it worked well, so I decided to try it here. It worked well so here's the details on how to make and use your own (total cost $6)

Hi to you all and welcome to the journey. Sorry it has taken me a few days to finally get you up to date with what is happening,but it has been a busy and fairly tiring time. This last month has been a bit of a roller coaster for me having fractured my ankle at hockey, but with great medical support I have healed exceptionally fast with the plaster coming off last Tuesday. Although this was a blow to my training program I have been going to Contours almost everyday and with great physic support from Vanessa and Chealsea I am well on the way to 100%.

ISAF Annual Conference 2011 - Kiteboarding, RS-One

Kiteboarding trials will also be held early next year to evaluate the possible inclusion into the Rio 2016 Olympic Sailing Competition and future ISAF events. Kiteboarding development will continue to move along after Council voted in favour of including the discipline in the ISAF Learn to Sail Training Programme Document and to recognise National Kiteboard Training programmes through the ISAF Recognised Training accreditation inspections. Council approved the Equipment Committee recommendations to grant ISAF Class status to the RS:One subject to them signing the ISAF Class agreement and satisfactory building specification.

Neil Pryde RS:One Racing Class receives ISAF approval

The ISAF council granted the ISAF Class status to the RS:One Class on the 12 November 2011 at the annual ISAF meeting held in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

In its press release Neil Pryde states: The RS:One is the new, exciting, ISAF one-design Class by NeilPryde. One sail one board - everyone competing on the same equipment. It's the rider that makes the difference.

RS:One windsurfing class joins the Extreme Sailing Series

The RS:One Windsurfing Class is delighted to be associated with the next event of the action-packed Extreme Sailing Series, renowned for its unique ‘stadium racing’ format that delivers all the action close to shore, right in front of the spectators.

The global circuit spanning three continents, brings together the best skippers on the planet, from Olympic medalists to round-the-world record holders, competing against each other in state of the art 40-foot catamarans. The RS:One Class looks forward to being part of this spectacular display of close-quarter racing.
