Windsurfing GPS racing gets the thumbs up

Just completed the two day GPS event at Manly on the weekend and it was really exciting. It’s everything you love about windsurfing; mates to sail with, multiple sessions with nice breaks to tune and chat and with as much/little competition as you like.

Snake Bank Classic 2016

The Snake Bank Classic is a no holds barred open sailing race for anything with a sail. 2 events, one includes windsurfing, the other has SUP - Open sail race on the Whangarei Harbour on Saturday 30th January 2016. Last year was its inaugural year and we saw windsurfers racing against kites, dinghies and one lonely keeler for the prestigious title of the Snake Bank Classic Trophy.

Race Rules - to be applied for all events unless specifically superseded by NOR or event manager

SPORTSMANSHIP AND SAFETY
Racers will conduct themselves to ensure the safety of other racers. They will do nothing to endanger other racers, and will sacrifice their rights under these rules to avoid dangerous situations. This principle takes precedence over all racing rules.

Windsurfing Event safety check-out / check-in board

At the recent Eastbourne Windsurfing Fun Slalom event we trialled a check-out / check-in board system for managing safety. I first encountered this at the National Slalom event in Dunedin and it worked well, so I decided to try it here. It worked well so here's the details on how to make and use your own (total cost $6)

North Island Cup 2011-12

The WNZ North Island Cup race series will kick off on the weekend of 15 October.

The 3 race series will be held at different locations around the North Island, the first race taking place in Taranaki on 15 or 16 October. Word is that it will be on at Waitara which should be exciting. Auckland is the venue for race day 3 later in the season. Wellington or Tauranga are likely to be the venue for race day 2 and this will be confirmed shortly.
