Cousin and Cooksey race to victory at the 2018 Lancelin Ocean Classic

Alexandre Cousin and Andrew Cooksey have taken out the windsurfing and kitesurfing marathons at the 2018 Lancelin Ocean Classic, held in Western Australia.

The Shire of Gingin is home to the Lancelin Ocean Classic. Located 84 kilometers north of Perth, its stunning coastline, adventurous dunes, pristine rivers and panoramic views make it a unique and perfect getaway.

The event that combines a marathon and wave riding has once again attracted pro and amateur contestants from all around the globe, making it one of the biggest editions yet, since it was first run in 1986.

Meet Mathilde Zampieri, the youngest pro windsurfer in the history of Tahiti.

Originally from France, Mathilde's family relocated to the island of Raiatea, in French Polynesia, when she was a child. Her father Gwen, a professional windsurfing instructor, began teaching her to windsurf from an early age on the island's beautiful lagoons.

It wasn't long before Mathilde caught the eye of major sponsors like airline company Air Tahiti Nui and eyewear brand Julbo. "Vahine I Te Moana," or "Girl In The Sea" is a film that takes its audience to her island and shows what it's like to be the youngest professional windsurfer in the world.

Neil Pryde: "Windsurfing has to be in Paris 2024"

The founder of the Pryde Group believes windsurfing should be one of the sailing disciplines competing at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.

Neil Pryde retired from the company he founded in the 1970s, but when it comes to planning the future of Olympic sailing, he is always an active thinker.

In the past 40 years, Pryde was deeply involved in the design and manufacture of sailboarding equipment, even though he never practiced it. Interestingly, he competed as an Olympic sailor on the Flying Dutchman class, at the 1968 Olympic Games held in Mexico.

Although a very young water sport, windsurfing has seen the birth, birth, and rebirth of several sailboard-oriented magazines.

The windsurf magazine boom took place in the early 1980s when the boardsailing sport became a gigantic success in the European markets, especially in France, Germany, and the Netherlands.

The sailboard would eventually secure an Olympic status, opening the way to the creation of multiple periodical windsurfing publications. Unfortunately, only a few resisted the test of time and internet.

Swiss windsurfer Balz Müller has been chasing winter storms for quite a while, but what you're about to witness is absolutely extreme.

On December 11, Switzerland's Lake Uri was invaded by a dry, warm, and down-slope wind called foehn wind, resulting in powerful 120 km/h (75 mph) winds.

Müller and a small group of local windsurfers decided to give it a go. A decade ago, the 23-year-old sailor watched a video shot in Pointe Rouge, Marseille, and dreamed of riding a similar storm. So, this was his day.

In 2000, Thomas Miklautsch defied death when he became the first windsurfer to ride between icebergs in the most remote areas of Antarctica.

Miklautsch says he witnessed "the most bizarre landscape I've seen in my life" and enjoyed the ultimate cold water windsurfing experience.

As the founder of the film production company New World Spirits, he released "Ayahuasca: A Journey Into Another Reality," a windsurfing movie that gets Miklautsch sailing into the heart of the Amazon rainforest, and then to Antarctica via South America's Tierra del Fuego.

Zara Davis has broken the women's speed windsurfing world record, at the 2017 Luderitz Speed Challenge, in Namibia.

The world's most famous speed sailing canal has once again delivered the goods. British speed windsurfer Zara Davis broke a record set in 2015.

Two years ago, Swiss bullet Karin Jaggi raised the women's bar and stole the world record from Davis by sailing at 46.31 knots in a 500-meter run.

RS:Convertible crowns its first world champions

Thomas Goyard and Maelle Guilbaud have been crowned the first ever RS:Convertible world champions at Praia da Vitoria, in the Terceira island, Azores.

Twenty-five male and female athletes gathered in the Portuguese Atlantic archipelago for the inaugural foil windsurfing world championships, in an official class sanctioned by World Sailing.

The French armada was able to grab two gold medals, but not all the medals at stake. Sebastian Kornum in the Men's fleet, and Marina Alabau and Emily Hall made sure there we more national flags in the podium.

Records begin to fall at the 2017 Luderitz Speed Challenge

The world's fastest windsurfers and kiteboarder have once again returned to Namibia for the 2017 Luderitz Speed Challenge.

The event runs from October 16th and November 26th, and it is considered by many the most prestigious speed boardsailing competition on the planet.

For the first time since its creation, the Luderitz Speed Challenge will be organized by a new duo. Former event organizers Sébastien Cattelan and Sophie Routaboul have passed the torch to Raffaello Gardelli and Mark Grinnell.

Adam Lewis conquered the 2017 Tiree Wave Classic, in Balephuil Bay, Scotland.

The wave sailing contest is all about earning the right to raise the legendary Tiree Sword, a symbol of might, perseverance, and resistance. And this year, all windsurfers were greeted by epic wind and wave conditions sponsored by Hurricane Ophelia.

"I think it probably comes down to the last waves. Ben did a 360 on his last wave, and then he did some stuff after in the whitewash, so I don't know," said Lewis just before the announcement of the winner.

Jacopo Testa is the 2017 European Freestyle Pro Tour champion

Jacopo Testa has been crowned the 2017 European Freestyle Pro Tour (EFPT) champion.

The Italian windsurfer from Sardinia confirmed the European title at the Dam-X, in Brouwersdam, Netherlands. Testa, 25, won two season events and finished third in other two EFPT stages.

On the women's side, Sarah-Quita Offringa was crowned the queen of European freestyle windsurfing with yet another flawless run in the winds of the Old Continent.

The 23-year-old windsurfer secured the fourth wave windsurfing title of his career at the 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sylt PWA Super Grand Slam, held in Germany.

The North Sea didn't disappoint, delivering the storm force winds and powerful waves needed to test the world's best wave sailing performers.

All eyes were on world title contenders Philip Köster and Victor Fernandez. If the German won the semifinal against his direct opponent, we would immediately be crowned world champion.
